I grew up in Blackstone MA which is just over the RI border. When my family of 9 went to the beach it was in Rhode Island. I raised my kids in Rhode Island and so places like Scarborough Beach and Matunuck in the summer were high on our list. And of course, lots of Del's Frozen Lemonade, Chowder and Clamcakes, with some lemon tea! I still love summer in Rhode Island and miss it dearly when I can't get there....

Lyrics

Summer in Rhode Island
(Words and Music by Charlie Nault)

It’s a beautiful Summer’s Day and I’m alive and well
There’s somethin’ ‘bout Summertime that just makes my Spirits Swell
Maybe it’s the sun, maybe it’s the heat
Maybe it’s the sand beneath my feet, on a Rhode Island beach
What more could I need?

I think I’ll hop on my bike and drive down to Scarborough Beach
Head up to Aunt Carrie’s tonight for clamcakes and lemon tea
Tomorrow I’ll find me a place in the shade, curl up with a quart of Dell’s Lemonade
See how much I can eat, if my brain doesn’t freeze

'Cause It’s a beautiful Summer’s Day and I’m alive and well
There’s somethin’ ‘bout Summertime that just makes my Spirits Swell
Maybe it’s the sun, maybe it’s the heat
Maybe it’s the sand beneath my feet, on a Rhode Island beach
What more could I need?

Well you could fly a plane out to California
Or you could drive for days to get to Daytona Beach
But I’ll be body surfing down in Matunuck
Cause Summer in Rhode Island’s right for me….
